Production of Carboxymethyl Cellulose Films Incorporating Rue (Ruta graveolens) Essential Oil

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is considered a non-toxic, biodegradable and biocompatible polymer. CMC-based films are rated as flexible, clear, odorless, moderately tear resistant, resistant to oil grease migration, water soluble. Due its hydrophilicity, CMC can serve matrix encapsulate hydrophobic substances, like essential oils, by emulsion dispersions. The of rue (Ruta graveolens) has antifungal, antimicrobial, insecticide therapeutic properties already reported in the literature. For incorporation films, ultrasound-assisted technique was used. were produced casting evaporation. polymeric with emulsified evaluated according droplet size, chemical composition, morphology thermogravimetric profile. size obtained for 229.1 nm. showed good transparency, regularity characteristics similar those pure

Extended Shelf Life of Chicken Meat Using Carboxymethyl Cellulose Coated Polypropylene Films Containing Zataria multiflora Essential Oil

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) coated polypropylene (PP) films containing Zataria multiflora (ZEO) essential oils (4%) as an antimicrobial packaging for chicken breast stored at 4 °C. To increase PP film hydrophilicity, it was treated by atmospheric cold plasma prior to coating by CMC. Then, different films including PP, PP/CMC, PP/CMC containing ...

Anti-tumour activity of Ruta graveolens extract.

An extract of Ruta graveolens was found to be cytotoxic to Dalton's lymphoma ascites (DLA), Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) and L929 cells in culture (IC100=16 mg/ml) and also to increase the lifespan of tumour bearing animals. The extract further decreased solid tumours developing from DLA and EAC cells when given simultaneously with elongation of the lifespan of tumour-bearing animals. A home...
